2017 Look Element 3 Motorcycle 5×10 Enclosed V-Nose trailer – $3600

I have over $4,000 into this trailer and many hours of my time (see information below). Save time, money, and the headache of laying out a small trailer like this to haul 3 dirt bikes. It’s very easy to make a mistake and not have the bikes fit properly, especially when drilling holes into the floor and accounting for the frame cross braces and everything else. Instead buy this almost new perfectly setup trailer!

I custom ordered this trailer from Look in 2017 so that I could set it up to tow 3 dirt bikes in the smallest/lightest possible enclosed trailer (According to Look 1148 lbs). This is a 5×10 trailer that can easily be towed by “almost” any vehicle with a tow hitch. At it’s widest point (fenders) it is about the same width as a midsized truck like a Tacoma/Frontier/4runner/etc. There is no need for mirror extensions as stock mirrors are plenty wide enough to see perfectly behind you. The trailer almost tracks the same as tow vehicle in tighter turns so you barely need to turn wider to avoid curbs and such, it is easy to forget you are towing a trailer. The smaller footprint makes a big difference in wind resistance which makes it easier on your engine and allows for better gas mileage. Previously I had a 6×10 trailer and this 5×10 tows so much easier the difference is unbelievable.

This trailer has been garage kept from new for the first 17 months that I’ve owned it. It has only been stored outside for the last month since we moved. It is in excellent used condition with a few dents in the diamond plate from rocks that got thrown up on dirt roads. The front side of the aluminum fenders are in rough shape from these same dirt roads, basically the back wheels of the tow vehicle constantly throw rocks onto the fenders when driving on these roads. I considered replacing them but assume that anyone who buys this trailer will also drive on dirt roads and end up with fenders in the same condition as these.

Custom ordered with the following options:

– Straight axle – Which raises the trailer deck 4″ for better ground clearance when getting to the trailhead or campsite. Most trailers come standard with a 4″ drop axle which lowers the deck

– Side door – Allows easier loading on such a narrow trailer

– RV side door latch with Bar Lock – I wanted to be able to sleep inside the trailer when needed so an RV door latch that can open, close, and lock the door from the inside was required. Trailer side doors come standard with a Bar lock that do not allow this but are the most secure for preventing break in. I had them install the RV door latch along with the bar lock. With the RV door latch this trailer can easily be built out into a camping trailer that also hauls dirt bikes.

– Electric Trailer brakes – Trailers this size do not come standard with brakes because they are so light. Since I was towing this behind our heavy Frontier with a camper in the bed I wanted the trailer to help with the stopping duties. This is a helpful feature regardless of your tow vehicle as every inch counts when attempting to avoid an accident. This also takes some of the load off of the tow vehicle brakes keeping them cooler and less likely to fail when in the mountains, never a bad idea.

– Ramp door

– Vents

– Silver Paint

– Spare Tire

– Interior light with switch

– Purchased March 2017

Upgrades I did after purchasing – Cost $600:

– The hardest part is laying out the wheel chocks so that you can haul 3 full sized dirt bikes in the small footprint of a 5×10 trailer, all while not letting them damage each. Once loaded the bikes, even on the roughest roads, never move due to the rear wheels being strapped (see picture above). The bikes will always get beat up when we ride them, but I don’t want them getting damaged when in transit 🙂 With 3 bikes you can fit 2 gear bags and gas cans in the trailer, one gear bag usually needs to ride in the tow vehicle.

– Floor – Rust-Oleum Epoxy garage floor paint – My research showed that this paint is very tough and works well on the wood floor of cargo trailers, especially when hauling motorcycles.

– Walls – Interior paint

– Pingel removable wheel chocks – Allows the trailer to be used for other things besides just hauling motorcycles, when removed the floor is nearly flat (see pictures). The front two are 3″ wide and the back is 6.5″ wide. The reason for this is so that you have some wiggle room when loading the third bike backwards (dirt bike tires are still stable in the wider mount as well). Also if you want to haul a single street bike with a wide front tire you could install another Pingel mount (about $20) at the front center of the trailer and move the rear 6.5″ Pingle to the new front location for hauling that bike. This was my plan but I never got around to it.

– Tow-Rax Low-Profile Floor Tracks – Installed along both walls the full length of the trailer as well as smaller pieces at the front for better tie down locations. Allows the anchor rings to be moved infinitely for bike hauling as well as moving anything else you need to when the wheel chocks are removed.
